Hi everyone! So much for my weekly updates. The last time that I posted something here was mid-September (yikes!). Sorry to my vast plethora of followers! I'm not sure how you all have survived without these weekly updates! Hopefully you have been able to follow our journey on Morgan's Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/morganlynn262/?igsh=NGVlNDg5dGowZXg0&utm_source=qr

Anyways, I'm writing today from my new home for the next three months in Helsingor, Denmark. If you have been a round me in the past few years you've likely heard me extol the virtues of the Scandinavian folk high schools (check out THIS PDF for more on what a folk high school is). One of the things that I really wanted to do on my sabbatical was to visit a few different folk high schools. This past October I got the chance to do that. I visited four different folk high schools in Denmark and one in Poland. One of the schools that I visited was the International People's College (IPC) in Helsingor, Denmark (setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet). As part of my visit I was invited to give a lecture on "Should Danes Do Land Acknowledgements" (they even made a poster!).

Anyways, I had a great time engaging with the staff and students at IPC during that afternoon this past October. It was towards the end of my visit that one of teachers asked if I would be interested in applying for a job as they take in international teachers from year to year. I said I would consider it, but that I needed to return to my job in Canada in the fall of 2026. However, a few days later, after chatting about it with Morgan, I reached out to IPC and asked if there was any way that I could come do a shorter-internship style term so that I could learn more about how folk high schools operate. After weeks and weeks of back and forths, accommodations, and navigating the beauracracy of Danish immigration, I am now here, for a 3-month internship at IPC (they are calling it a Teaching Fellowship)! I am really excited about this as my dream is to start a folk high school back home.

The downside....

Yesterday was a tough day as I had to say good-bye to Morgan, Clare, and Greer. We parted ways at the EuroAirport near Basel, Switzerland. The girls are going to the Canary Islands for a few days and then returning to Canada later this month.

In the meantime, if any of you want to visit, I'm living in Helsingor, Denmark, just north of Copenhagen. The public transit is so slick here. In fact, I am just going to head into Copenhagen to go to an evening English Mass so I better run...

Sorry again for my lack of posts. Thanks for reading what I did write (especially Cole N for the encouragement to keep posting).

Cheers!
