Bonjour from France!! Just riding the famous TGV Train from Nantes to Paris. It’s supper fast and convenient and makes me wonder when North America will finally get on board with this kind of travel. But I digress…
The last time I blogged, I wrote about our vow renewal ceremony near London. Since then, we’ve attended Les Mis, watch a Women’s Rugby World Cup Match, stayed for a week on a holy tidal island and spent a few days on a coastal tourist town in France.
On the last blog I shared a couple pics from Les Mis and the rugby match between Ireland and Spain. I’ll move onto our time at Holy Island Lindisfarne and St. Jean-de-Monts, France.
Holy Island, Lindisfarne

These two above pictures are taken from Holy Island, Lindisfarne. When the tide is out it is attached to England, but when the tide is in, it is its own island. It has a long history going back a long time. It’s known as Holy Island because of two saints, St. Cuthbert and St. Aidan, who are thought to have introduced Christianity to what is now northern England. When I first came to Lindisfarne in 2003, Ray Simpson (the Anglican priest who married us) and a friend I made from Germany named Daniel, challenged me to spend a tide out on St. Cuthbert’s Island. This involves going to the small island for the duration of a tide (about 6 hours). I did this I overnight and came back to the mainland in the morning. Morgan and I also have a picture of St. Cuthbert’s behind us on our wedding day. Anyways, it’s a significant place for me!
From Lindisfarne we headed to Edinburgh Airport where we took a flight to Nantes, France. From Nantes we travelled to a charming beach resort town called St. Jean-de-Monts. We had a great meal and rode the Ferris wheel.

We had a great time!
Next I will write about our time in Taize France and Flavigny, where Chocolat was filmed!
